Dinner for 5k
Out in the wilderness, middle of nowhere No GPS signal, no food trucks to share Jesus was teaching, the crowd kept growing Families with children, the numbers were showing Five thousand people, maybe even more Kids getting cranky, parents getting sore The sun’s getting low and the hour is late But where do you get food for this dinner date?
[Chorus] What you gonna do when you gotta feed a crowd? And your pantry’s empty, wallet’s not too proud No Walmart, no Costco, no Amazon Prime Just empty stomachs and dinner time What you gonna do? What you gonna do? When impossible seems to be staring at you!
Disciples are panicking, doing the math “Two hundred denarii won’t clear this path!” That’s like a year’s salary, maybe even more To feed all these people by the lakeshore They searched through the crowd with a desperate plea “Anyone got food? We’ll take what we see!” One little boy stepped up with a grin “I got five loaves and two fish - let’s begin!”
[Bridge] Jesus took that lunch, just a humble man But holding in His hands the Creator’s plan He spoke one word, the laws of nature bent The God who made the stars, Jesus was there Loaves multiplying by the power of His voice The One who fills the universe made His choice Baskets overflowing, creation obeyed When the Word made flesh authority displayed!
